There is saying that it is constantly circulating among Internet marketers, and that is that the money is in the list. Although this may seem like a bit of a tired and worn out saying, there is actually no truer saying that could be spoken about Internet marketing. As a matter of fact, many marketers base their entire business around the list and the fact that it is one of the most profitable ventures that they can take part in online. Not only that, it also can assist you in building a massive amount of traffic, provided you use your list properly.

The first step in being able to use the list is building one in the first place. This is done in a number of different ways, but perhaps the most effective way is to drive targeted traffic to a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a simple page that only has limited content and a sign up form. There are many different templates that are available online which can help you get started in developing your own squeeze page, and many of them have been tested to show a rather high response rate.

Of course, you're going to have to give people that land on your webpage a compelling reason to sign up for your list of the first place. Many people try to do this on their own merits, thinking that people are going to sign up because it is something that they are interested in but in reality, people want to be rewarded for giving out their email address. There may have been a time whenever you could have simply put up a subscribe form on a webpage and gotten a ton of subscribers, but those days have long since passed. Now, you must dangle a carrot in front of their face by offering them something for free in exchange for their email address.

Once they're on your list, the grooming process begins. This is perhaps one of the most important parts about having a good list, simply because a list that is not groomed properly is not going to respond whenever you send them an email. Continue to give your list information that is of benefit to them and build up your confidence in the list by gaining a good reputation with them. Always keep in mind, you're dealing with individuals that are on your list, not a long list of email addresses. Once you understand this concept, grooming your list and becoming a real person to them becomes much easier.

Now that you have your list and it is groomed properly, you can begin sending traffic in any direction that you want it to go. The larger your list, the more traffic you can send and the more response you're going to get as a result. Don't ever stop building your list, thinking that it is large enough to supply you with what you need. Think of it as a constant building process, and the traffic that you built along with it will be constant as well.
